A selective, design-led publishing studio with a marketing team attached. For experts with something to say, and organizations with a story to tell.
We are a curated studio that takes a manuscript or a mandate and produces a professional, beautiful, credible book or publication, in print and digital editions.
Then, because we are a marketing studio first, we help you put it in front of the right people. Most publishers hand you a finished book and wish you luck.
01
For consultants, executives, coaches, founders and specialists
A done-with-you path from manuscript to a professionally published, marketing-ready book. Built by people who understand it is a business asset, not a hobby.
02
For DMOs, municipalities, associations and companies
Full-production magazines, visitor guides, annual reports and commemorative books. Editorial, design, photography, print and digital, managed end to end.
Most experts think of a book as something they will sell. The ones who benefit most think of it as something that sells them, a credibility engine that opens doors a business card never could.
You do not need to sell 10,000 copies. You need the right 200 people to read it, and to remember who wrote it.
The reframe that changes everything: stop asking whether the book will make money in royalties. Start asking what one new client, one keynote, or one strategic relationship is worth.
Every professional book moves through the same six stages. Skipping one does not save time, it shows up in the finished book.
01
Define your ideal reader, the transformation the book delivers, and the single idea it is known for.
Common mistake: writing first and working out the point later.
02
Write it yourself, or work with a collaborator who interviews you and shapes your thinking into prose. Most authority books run 30,000 to 60,000 words.
Common mistake: waiting for the perfect draft.
03
Developmental editing fixes structure and argument. Copyediting fixes clarity. Proofreading catches the rest.
Common mistake: treating editing as one spellcheck pass.
04
A professional cover and a clean, well-typeset interior separate a book that looks published from one that looks self-published.
Common mistake: a DIY cover.
05
Print and eBook files to spec, ISBN and publishing setup, and distribution where your readers actually are.
Common mistake: format problems discovered after upload.
06
An author website, a real launch, and a plan to use the book in talks and sales conversations.
Common mistake: publishing, then going silent.
Nobody in publishing likes to talk about price. We do. We have delivered complete projects for under $5,000, and others well past $35,000. Where yours lands depends on word count, specification and print path: a 55,000-word 5×8 paperback, a 300-page hardcover coffee-table book, and a run of 2,500 copies are three very different numbers. The line items below show where the money goes.
| Where the money goes | Typical range (CAD) | What drives it |
|---|---|---|
| Editing | $1,500 to $8,000+ | Word count, and how much developmental work the draft needs. |
| Cover and interior design | $1,500 to $5,000+ | Complexity, images, and how custom the look is. |
| Production and setup | $500 to $2,500 | Print and eBook preparation, ISBN and publishing setup. |
| Author website and launch | $2,000 to $10,000+ | How much marketing muscle you want behind the book. |
| Ghost or collaborative writing | $15,000 to $60,000+ | Optional. Only if you want the book written with you, not by you. |
Beware the extremes. A $300 publish-your-book package cannot include real editing or design, and the quality shows. A five-figure traditional-feel package is not automatically better. Ask exactly what is included, who does the work, and what you own at the end. Ghostwriting is quoted separately, because it replaces the part you would otherwise do yourself.
| Path | What it is | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Traditional | A publisher selects you, pays you, and controls the process. | Authors chasing bookstore scale and prestige, if you can land an agent and wait one to two years. |
| DIY self-publishing | You do, or hire, everything and publish directly. | Hands-on authors with time and the skill to project-manage a book. |
| Assisted, done-with-you | A studio manages the professionals and the process with you. You keep the rights. | Busy experts who want a professional result without running the project themselves. |
Where we sit, and where we do not. We are a selective, done-with-you studio. We do not publish anyone who pays, we are transparent on price and rights, and you own your work. Not a volume platform, not a traditional gatekeeper. The professional partner in between, with a marketing team attached.
We produce the kind of publication most organizations cannot make in-house and do not want to manage across five vendors. Editorial, writing, design, photography, web, print and distribution, with one accountable partner.
And when it makes sense, we can fund it through advertising, so it costs less to produce than you would expect.
Magazines and authority books produced or supported by Chapter Six. A selection we can share publicly. Much of our current work sits under wraps until it launches.
